This image was created by my student Alex in response to a lesson I taught last year in the 4th quarter. The lesson was about using "free-form" shapes. Free-form shapes are often inspired by organic, natural forms. They are usually blob-like in appearance.
After drawing five free-form shapes, I challenged the students to turn each of their shapes into an imaginary creature by adding facial features and other details. The creatures in these drawings inspired the second part of the lesson: a mixed-media sculpture of their favorite creature in its habitat!
This is an image of some shape creatures who look like something one could see through a microscope! This picture was created by Kate F.
